The World Health Organization (WHO) is an important UN body whose main goal is to address a wide range of health challenges, from infectious diseases and maternal health to non-communicable diseases and mental health through collaboration with governments and other organizations. WHO provides leadership on global health matters, conducts research, and monitors health trends to improve healthcare access and outcomes for the world, especially vulnerable communities.
During this year's CTMUN, delegates around the world will discuss and debate two objectives that have become increasingly urgent as we continue to see the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the world: "Exploring the Impact of COVID-19 on the Global Youth" and "Enhancing Global Collaboration in Research on Emerging Infectious Diseases".
The first topic will focus on how the COVID-19 has and continues to impact children and adolescents. It will explore how the pandemic affected youth's social dynamics, mental health issues, economic ramifications, and disruptions to education. The committee wants to find ways to empower and support young people as they navigate the "post-"pandemic world, as well as examine the distinct vulnerabilities, resiliency, and creative reactions of young people to the catastrophe.
The second topic will focus on how to promote collaboration between countries, organizations, and infectious disease research professionals. It should look to improve international readiness and response to new infectious threat developments by facilitating the exchange of information, resources, and best practices. The committee's main goals are to lessen the worldwide impact of newly emerging infectious diseases by fostering cooperative research projects, creating cutting-edge technology and interventions, and setting up efficient channels of communication.
