Its a prosperous time to be a Brit!
Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries Great Britain was the world's most formidable nation in terms of its economy, military, and sphere of influence. On the road to riches, nothing seems to be in its way.
However, trouble seems to be brewing in the Far East.
Right off the humiliating Macartney Embassy, Britain sought to secure economic opportunities in China no matter what it took. These opportunities came in the form of British Opium exports, which bolstered the British sphere of influence in the East at the expense of the people of China. However, this strategy caused friction between the British Crown and Qing Dynasty who aimed to end the drug trade once and for all.
Tension between the two nations are at an all time high, and this will not be an easy fight for the British. China is considered an economic powerhouse with influence and resources across the Pacific.
With an even playing field, it is up to you, the British Empire, to ensure a victory against the Qing Dynasty.
Will the Crown come out on top and gain control of Chinese trade?
Or will China retake control over their own economy and expel British influence in the Far East?
