The United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS), established in 1958, is at the forefront of ensuring the sustainable and equitable exploration and utilization of outer space. As space activities surge, COPUOS's role in crafting policies and frameworks that guide international cooperation and prevent conflicts has never been more critical. This year, our committee will focus on two pivotal topics: Future of Colonization and Climate Change and Pollution in Space. The Future of Colonization will explore the nuanced role the UN can play in regulating the burgeoning influence of private space corporations, ensuring that their pursuits align with global interests and ethical standards. Climate Change and Pollution in Space aims to address how to mitigate and manage pollution as humanity expands its footprint in space.
